This morning I drove down to the Silver Legacy to meet up with the few who could arrive so early on the first day of our conference. I knew a bit about what the day would hold due to the agenda that was posted on the Gun Blogger Rendezvous website.
Gun Blogger Rendezvous Agenda: Thursday, September 9th, 2010
- 8:30 a.m. Leave the Silver Legacy “Silver Baron B” Hospitality room for one of the restaurants for breakfast.
- 2:15 p.m. Leave the Hospitality Room to car pool to Cabela’s.
- 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Guided tour Cabela’s and browsing/shopping. Pick up munchies and soft drinks on way back to hotel. Buy ammo?
- 6 p.m. Leave the Hospitality Room to go to dinner. Location to be determined later.
- Thursday Evening until midnight: Refreshments and conversation at the Silver Legacy Hospitality room. Bring your own refreshments and munchies.
But I was a bit nervous as this was my first time gathering up with fellow gun bloggers. My heart just about stopped as I walked into the Silver Baron B room and found those who could make the breakfast all staring at me!
We all decided to grab breakfast at the American Cafe inside of the Silver Legacy. Our group was an intimate one, numbering four. We had myself, Mr. Completely of the Mr. Completely blog and the Gun Blogger Rendezvous blog, Keewee (Mrs. Completely) of Keewee’s Corner and Keewee’s Garden and, last but not least, Dan Hall from GunUP. His webpage is a bit naked right now, but follow him on his Twitter (@GunUP) for the good stuff. Dan also posts to Sourcing Seattle.
We had lovely conversations about Appleseed, the League of Lethal Ladies after work shooting nights, shooting competitive steel matches and the future of GunUp. When it opens, GunUp will be the go-to place on the web for everyone interested in all things that go bang. It will be a welcoming spot for those just curious or wanting to get started in the gun world as well. I can’t wait for this to come to be because I’ve had terrible experiences as a newbie in gun shops and gun shows. It will be nice to have a place to go to with honest questions about getting involved in shooting sports without being harassed because I don’t know the proper terminology or ignored because I’m female.
One nifty feature GunUp will offer is real-time pricing for firearms. If you’re looking to buy and don’t want to accept a bad deal on a new toy, just check with GunUp. If you’ve inherited an heirloom firearm and are looking to sell or insure it, just check with GunUp. What about proving which of your buddies has the best gun collection? Head on over to GunUp and they’ll crunch the numbers for you. Cool, huh?
I can’t share with you all of the juicy, juicy details just yet, because I don’t know them all just yet. But I’ll keep you in the loop. Everything I find out this weekend, about GunUp and beyond, I’ll post here for you to read.
